For your consideration, a calibrated military Geiger counter that measures both gamma and beta radiation. I had the electronics in this radiac meter updated, and had it calibrated in 2011 by a professional lab. This is an excellent tool for measuring radiation, and is built to military ruggedness standards. Included in this auction are: -HDER G-01 Geiger counter with a Geiger Mueller Probe. The probe consists of a type JAN-5979 Geiger-Mueller tube and a type JAN-5980 Geiger-Mueller tube with a moveable metal shield. When the shield is open, the probe will detect both gamma and beta. When the shield is closed it will only detect gamma. -Aluminum carring case built for this meter. -Headphones. -Carrying strap. -Technical Manual (that includes Operating and Maintenance Instructions). -Two D cells. -A strip of copper conductive tape if you would like to make the case into a Faraday Cage to shield against EMP. The first two photos show the components and case. The third photo shows the meter measuring the radiation emitted by a piece of uranium ore with the beta shield closed. I had the selector switch set at 5mR/hr. You can see the reading is .55 mR/hr. The fourth photo shows the meter measuring the radiation emitted by the same piece of uranium ore with the beta shield open. I had the switch set at 5mR/hr. You can see the reading is 2.6mR/hr. The fifth photo shows the meter measuring the radiation emitted by a vaseline glass (which contains uranium) marble with the beta shield open. I had the switch set at .5mR/hr. You can see the reading is .02mR/hr. The sixth photo shows the meter measuring the radiation emitted by an antique plate with a uranium glazing (beta shield open). I had the switch set at .5mR/hr.
